Mabel Anna Smith, 87, of Janesville joined her husband, Roy and her daughter, Joyce in Heaven on Christmas Day, December 25, 2013. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Mabel was born December 3, 1926 in Black River Falls, WI, the daughter of Earl and Lellah (Olver) Thompson. She married Roy T. Smith on May 24, 1943 in Janesville. Through the years, Mabel had worked at SSI and Admiral Corporation but spent most of her life raising her family and being a homemaker. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years.
Surviving are six children, Allen Smith of Rockford, IL, Sharon (Michael) Treuthardt of Brodhead, Pamela (Alan) Martalock of Beloit, Thomas (Sharon) Smith of Nekoosa, WI, Tammie (Dennis) McAllister of Fort Atkinson, Bradley Smith of Janesville, 20 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Smith on September 30, 2003. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Hallett, her parents, one brother, Verland Thompson and three sisters, Janet Kuhn, Janice Stenberg, Joan Dominy and her beloved dog, Shamu.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Milton Lawns Memorial Park Chapel, 2200 Milton Avenue, Janesville with burial to follow in Milton Lawns, Pastor Richard W. Lehmann will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday in Milton Lawns Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mercy Care Hospice.  The Smith family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
